Osama Bin Laden. Mastermind of the terrorist attacks on World Trade Towers on September 11, 2001. American soldiers looked for him under every pebble they came across on the roads and streets… behind every door (that they had left on its hinges) in Afghanistan… inside every mountain caves (including the ones that can not accommodate even a goat). They showered the hapless Afghan soil with missiles and bullets… they combed every inch of the land… BUT, ultimately, Osama bin Laden was found not in one of those expected hideouts —he rather was found inside a one million dollar mansion located in a cool area where people go for vacations.
Osama was found in Abbottabad town of Pakistan; right under the nose of Pakistani Military Academy. Search for the “enemy of the world” that continued for a decade came to an end with a 40 minutes strike operation. The evil was killed with a bullet in his head. I wonder if the US deliberately played a mouse and cat game with Laden. It is hard to digest that the world’s sole superpower could not locate a single man for almost a decade! And then suddenly one night he was found and killed while living in a comfortable summer mansion.
Had Osama been found and killed in the mountains —it would have been easier to believe that yes it really took so much time to locate the guy. Why are we blaming only Pakistan for sheltering the world’s most wanted terrorist? It is difficult for me to believe that the US did not know about Laden’s presence in Abbottabad. They deliberately let Osama to live until the time was right for killing him. Somehow, a couple of days ago, Barack Obama decided that the time was ripe and Obama took Osama off the scene. Probably Osama was being used by the US just as a pawn to reach its higher and hidden motives. Leaving Osama alive for a decade gave the US enough time to make its presence in the Af-Pak region even stronger. In the name of establishing democracy and sometimes in the name of war against terrorism —the USA is setting its strong foothold in the various regions of the world.
The US is a very shrewd country in its vision, planning and execution. Pakistan on the other hand is a deer caught in the glare of hundreds of headlights. Since long long ago Pakistan has had no idea what’s right for it and what’s not. It keep making mistakes one after the other.
